Details
A charming early Noritake hand‑painted bowl featuring a pair of whimsical nursery scenes — children gathered near tall grandfather clocks, rendered in soft colors with that gentle, storybook feel common in 1920s–40s export ware
. The interior artwork is fully hand‑painted, not transfer, giving each figure a slightly unique character.
Stamped on the base with the classic Noritake wreath and “M” mark, used by the Morimura Brothers, the company’s U.S. import arm during the pre‑war export era. This mark dates the piece to roughly 1921–1940, a period known for imaginative decorative pieces and small giftware items.
Because the painted scenes sit inside the bowl and the glaze predates modern food‑safety standards, this piece is best suited for display rather than everyday use.
6 3/4 inch diameter, 1 inch high.
If needs cleaning, lightly by hand.
A gentle, nostalgic piece of early Noritake, looking for a new home to be appreciated again.
Thank you for looking
