Sargent # 408 Plane Type 5(1942-1950) Smooth Sole Nice

Up for sale is a nice Sargent #408 type 5 hand plane. Same size as a Stanley #3. It has a smooth Sole and it is flat. The iron is 1 3/4" wide and sharp, with very good length. The tote and knob are in great shape with no cracks or chips or major marks.

With over 76 years of life experience and a passion for woodworking, I’ve spent decades collecting, restoring, and working with antique hand tools, mostly hand planes . I'm an Army Vet. (1967-1969) and married with 2 children. I'm also a avid gardener. I have a degree in Forestry from S.I.U. although I only worked in the industry for 6 weeks. I'm retired from the coal mines and also the Post Office. I live in Southern Illinois near Carbondale. I love to hunt and fish. I live on 30 with a 9 acre strip mine lake in front of the house. My work shop includes a Delta Unisaw , a Grizzley 17" band saw and a DeWalt 735 planer. I have many hand planes including a very nice Stanley #2 type 7
