Details
Hardcover book printed in 1947 By Doubleday and Company Inc. Details the works of famed folk artist Grandma Moses with accompanying comments.
Anna Mary Robertson “Grandma” Moses was an American folk artist celebrated for her warm, nostalgic depictions of rural life. She became a national sensation in the 1950s when her paintings became popular, capturing the rhythms of 19th‑ and early‑20th‑century American country life — harvests, winter scenes, barn dances, and small‑town traditions — rendered in a style often described as naive, primitive, or folk art.
136 pages with color and black and white plates of her work, with comments on the opposite page. 8 1/2 x 11. Book may have had a cover at one time, that is missing now
Cover and binding are in good condition, some minor foxing on some of pages, but still enjoyable and displayable. No dog eared of worn pages.
Grandma Moses lived to be 101, painting well into her later years, and remains one of the most beloved figures in American folk art. A great book for anyone who appreciates the quiet magic of early American life .
